Roshan Singh Rajput was born on January 22 in village Nvada in Distt. Shahjahanpur, in Uttar Pradesh. The mother was Kaushala Devi and father Jangi Ram Singh. Jangi Ram Singh who was from the village. Roshan Singh Rajput called himself Roshan Singh Thakur. In his childhood he was a wrestler. As he got a little older he became proficient in gun shooting. After he joined the Indian National Congress and became a volunteer. In November 1921, the government banned the Indian National Congress Volunteer Corps. Government's decision was opposed from all corners of the country. A demonstration was held in the Bareilly area, in which the volunteers of Shahjahanpur district were led by Thakur Roshan Singh rajput. The police also tried to stop the procession and opened fire. Roshan Singh Rajput and other protesters were arrested. The case was registered and sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment in the Central Jail in Bareilly. Roshan Singh Rajput was a resident of Uttar Pradesh, whose common spoken language is very uncivilized. In the jail he used to call employees and jailers government dogs. Due to this behaviour, the jailer ordered his employees to take strictly action against Roshan Singh Rajput. He made up his mind to oppose British government. after releasing from jail he directly gone to Ramprasad Bismil. Ram Prasad Bismal was the leader of the Hindustan Republican Association (HRH). Bismill was already looking for some sharp shooters for his revolutionary party. He immediately enrolled Thakur Roshan Singh Rajput in his newly established organization and was given the task of teaching shooting to the new youths entering the party.
The Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) had a zeal of independence but no money. Rich people in the society wanted freedom but were not ready to give money. All the money that was collected from volunteers was used to sent to Congress and Swaraj Party. the leaders of congress were enjoying but these innocents were not aware of. Then Thakur Roshan Singh and Ram Prasad Bismil, decided to rob some government backers and rich people. Ram Prasad Bismil agreed and decided to invade Baldev Prasad's house on December 25, 1924 (Christmas night). Baldev Prasad was an interest-lender and sugar trader. During the robbery, a guard was also shot dead. But the party got Rs 4000 and some weapons from Baldev Prasad's house.
Chandra Shekhar Azad was also a member of Hindustan Republican Association (HRA). The party needed more money and weapons to fight for independence. All together, a decision was made to loot the state exchequer for more money. Then they looted the Kakori train in which the goverment treasury was looted. However, Thakur Roshan Singh did not take part in the Kakori rail dacoity. With spy action, about all members of the party were arrested. Roshan Singh Thakur was charged with the murder of a guard during a robbery at Baldev Prasad's house. All the members of the association were arrested, Chandra Bhar Zahari and Chandra Shhal Zahari from Agra, Sheetla Sahay from Allahabad, Jyoti Shankar Dikshit and Bhupinder Nath Sanyal, Banmars Mamam Nath Gupta, Dhanindra Nath Banerjee Nath Bunder

Vishnu Sharan Dublish from Meerut, Vir Khadar Tewari from Orai, Ram Krishna Khatri from Pune, Banwari Lal from Rae Bareli, Ram Prasad Bismil from Shahjahan Pur, Banarasi Lal, Hargovind, Prem Krishna khanna, Krishna Singh Madan Lal, Ram Ratan Shukla, Ashfaqula Khan, Sachindra Bakshi from Pratapgarh and Kamal Nath Tewari from Champaran. Some of them were freed enough. Only Chandra Shekhar was free which has not gone unnoticed. He contested in Allahabad and obtained martyrdom.
Thakur was tried and the judge sentenced him to death under sections 121 (a) and 120 (b) of the IPC. On December 19, 1927, a nanny was killed in Allahabad Jail, kissing the rope of a horse.

Thakur Roshan Singh wrote to his cousin Hukam Singh from Naini Jail in Allahabad, known as the last letter. "Man's life is God's best work and I have sacrificed my life for others. My sisters and brothers, I am the first man in my native village of Nawaada to raise the head of all of you. I am happy that in the last moments of my life, I worship as much freedom as possible. The menu knows that the man who dies for his duty and religion is always alive. You don't have to worry about my death. I am peacefully sleeping in God's lap.
