King Porus ( Purus ) The Great Rajput.            Today we are going to tell the bravery of that great Rajput king. King pus. The one who lost but broke Alexander's military backbone. Whose real name is Purushotam Parmanand Chandra. Who was the king of the Katoch clan. His story was written by a French historian Plotemy who writes him as PURUS in french language. He ruled over the Jhelum and the Chenab river. It is said that only two kings opposed to Alexander's invasion, King Hasti (who lost the battle due to his small armybut did not surrender) and King Porus. King Porus had rule on vast area between two rivers, Jhelum and Chenab . When Alexander started invasions from Greece. His aim was to massacre people and win. what he did. Nobody stood a long infront of his cavallary. he moved only forward till he reached boundries of india. A big reason behind this was small tribes on the way. Cavallary was his greatest strength with 15,000 horsemen.             After defeating King Hasti, Alexander marched territories of King Porus in 326 B.C. He halted on the bank of river Jehlm. Otherside of Jhelum river, King Porus stood with his army. He had a great courage like other Rajput Kings but his army was not sufficient to win Alexander's army. He was 6'8'' tall. He invited Alexander to duel fight between them, but Alexander refused. Porus stood alone with his two sons against the most powerful general in the world. Porus was betrayed by the kings of Abhishara, Kashmir and Taksila. They joined the Greeks. King Ambi of Abhishara decided to join Alexander, while the king of Kashmir remained neutral. Prior to the war, Alexander asked Porus to surrender, which Porus refused and decided to fight.           Due to the inclement weather, the river was flooded and the land was wet, so Alexander's cavalry, the main strength, was unable to fight the Porus's elephants. So Alexander decided to cross the river 16 km away. Here was the strict watch of Poros's army. Alexander's Edge was severely damaged. After this defeat, Alexander crossed the river 60 km from Harnpur. Porus sent his eldest son to stop him. One who fought very bravely but was eventually defeated and killed. Porus also turned faces of his army toward Alexander. Alexander first proceeded with a small brigade. But Poros did not allow him to get advance. Alexander's army had never encountered elephants army before. Alexander himself was wounded and his horse Buspetals was also killed in war.              One of Alexander's generals, Diodorus, writes: "Giant elephants were very powerful and were very useful in combat. They broke the bones of several Greek soldiers and crushed soldiers under their feet. Alexander was famous for his cruelty. He had murdered his father, cousins and other nobel persons. He was a man who declared himself as God and asked people to obey him. He was a man who burned down cities and treated his enemies' women with cruality. The man who killed his best friend trustworthy general without any cause. He declared to decapitate head of Porus and to roll on ground, as he had done to King Darius. The Ethiopic text states that many of Alexander's cavalrymen were killed in the battle of hydaspes (Jehlam River).        Then he madea powerful attack on Porus with full strength. The 6-foot-8-inch-high Porus kept fighting till end but he had 9 deep wounds. Eentually arrested by th macedonian army. He was made prisoner. Finally when Alexander asked Porus that you were now my prisoner. How to treat you. He was aRajput withot fear of death, he replied that I am a Rajput king. You do the same things which a winner king do with a loser king. Alexander had never heard such words from any loser.

Now he understood that he faced only one king of India. If he want to conquist full Indian territories, he has to face so many kings like Porus. Because all are Rajputs. They die for their soil. He decided to get back to his origin. He handedover all territories to Great Rajput King Porus. Alexander started his reverse journey to Greece in 323 B.C.On the way he arrived in the city Babylon. Without reaching home, at the age of 33, on 28th June, 323 B.C, Alexander died. Before dieing he ordered his army to keep open his hands and arms spreaded, to show the world that alexander is leaving this world without carrying his life achievments with him. A Rajput King made him to feel this.
